Georiga Southern’s Women Tennis Remains Undefeated
Georgia Southern’s tennis player Mariana Ranzahuer defeated Presbyterian College’s Nicole Croxton (6-0,6-3) in a singles match that helped Georgia Southern claim the 4-3 win over Presbyterian.
Winning a singles match comes naturally to the senior tennis player, as she has successfully won eight out of her 10 single matches, with only five of her single matches resulting in a tie breaker, three of which she won.
“She was very smart about using the win in her favor,” Ranzahuer described her opponent Croxton. “Her movement wasn’t very quick, so I could move her on the court and move into finish the point faster.”

Not every player on the GS tennis team had a successful match like Ranzahuer, Giulia Reipe of the GS came short of defeating her opponent Celine Schepers in a singles match with a score of 6-7,5-7.
This lost added to her record with six total wins and six loses this season.
“Overall she’s really an aggressive player,” Presbyterian’s Schepers said “I guess she could have been a little more disciplined, ending with what we call a point instead of an exclamation mark.”
The Presbyterian sophomore has competed at No. 1 in each other 14 matches in 2016, and in 2014, she was ranked No. 63 nationally, including in her hometown of Belgium.
Georgia Southern’s victory adds to the team’s undefeated record of 3-0.
“Usually at the college level, especially playing D1, the girls have all the skills they need,” Michele Stanford, GS Head Coach said.
The next game will be played at Stetson University Feb. 5, where the Eagles look to remain undefeated.
